Gaffel-Haus in Cologne

Nice brewery with nice staff. But Mettbrötchen with cheap onion meat (which contains loads of unhealthy ingredients) is an absolute NOGO and a shame.

Kölsch was ok. But card payment is not possible. There are no indications of this. # welcometo2020

Great place to celebrate the carnival in Cologne. But always worth a visit even outside the foolish season. Even the currywurst becomes an extraordinary dish thanks to the homemade sauce. Of course, the beer speaks for itself. The menu offers typical brewery cuisine and the prices are moderate for the old town of Cologne, the waiters / dä Köbes emphasizes unfriendly, as you would like it ?

We had a lot of fun with my friends on Thursday. We were very lucky that we still got in. Great, fast and above all friendly service. Great atmosphere!!! Next time in Cologne we will be there, maybe it will work on Rosenmontag.

The service was ok, but that had nothing to do with kölschem food. Bought potato salad with bought fried schnitzel, baked potato with bought sour cream which originally tasted like from the discounter around the corner. In addition came mini portions to cheeky tourist prices. There is only one thing left to say. Rip off dear gaff on the Alter Markt :(

The food does not work. There are simply any ready meals "spoiled" on the plate at completely inflated prices. The portions are thankfully very small. Otherwise, much more would have to be thrown away. The beer was good. So that at least the one star is justified ...

We have been several times in this restaurant, the first time everything was very good a very nice waiter and very fast service. The second time it was unfortunately not so good a very unfriendly waiters and long waits .. It depends a lot on which waiter you are served and on which day of the week at what time of the day the restaurant on.

Very good service and real orginal super kidney

If it were possible I would not give a star. But let me start at the beginning: 1. I ordered a Kölsch (!!!!) and got a 0.4 L glass. That's impossible. After complaint, we got two 0.2 l glasses and were asked to pour them around. I thought I was in Dusseldorf! 2. Furthermore, the back entrance was completely overpowered. Conclusion: unbelievable.

Not Great - Poor Service and arrogant attitude of staff

The beer is great, the food is good Brauhaus (Brew House) food. When you come in, pay attention to the coats of arms on the wall on the right. These are the 22 Gaffel (guilds) that took over the city back in 1396.

We had to wait an hour for have our dinner served and the food (a sausage in my case) was not good enough and without the spicy sauce I wanted. And it's also expensive

My friends brought me here during my last visit to Cologne. We came during a quiet time so it wasn't too crowded. Yes, the servers are a bit gruff, but hey it's Gaffel Haus, it wouldn't be an authentic Brauhaus experience if they were "nice" to you. I had a great time, they kept the biers coming and there were plenty of laughs. I tried the Sauerbraten and my sister had the Bratwurst. Since we don't have anything in the U.S. that is great authentic German food to compare this to, we were both pretty satisfied with our meals.

Restaurant was overcrowded and we had to wait 30 minutes to get served. Food just okay. Very nice location, closed to the Cologne Cathedral.

Not recommended. We were there at the weekend and had not reserved, as we spontaneously decided to eat together. The clerk asked us in a very unfriendly tone to speak High German and told us that if we had not reserved, we could go straight to the train station and drive home. We would know the way. He wishes us a good trip home. I rarely experience such a trifle. The employees in the service should be stressful - as a manager, I would dismiss someone like that. Better go a few streets to the fish market. In the house "Permanent Representation" you will be treated better. Too bad that you have to give at least 1 star.

The food and beer were just okay. The place is always overcrowded and the servers are pushy and rude. We (2) were seated at a cramped table for 4 and then 2 unkempt men were seated at our table as well, while we were trying to order!
